Jami Gertz returned to series television as Debbie Weaver, the mother at the center of ABC’s new science-fiction comedy The Neighbors.

The series premiered September 26, 2012, and followed the Weavers after they moved into a gated community populated by extraterrestrials. Gertz remained with the series for its full two-season, 44-episode run.

Jami Gertz took on a behind-the-scenes role as a producer on Chris Weitz’s 2011 drama A Better Life, starring Demián Bichir.

The film was produced through Gertz’s Lime Orchard Productions and received an Academy Award nomination for Bichir’s performance. It marked an important expansion of Gertz’s career beyond acting and into film production.
